America Really Loved Streaming Morgan Wallen in 2023

Wallen's "Last Night" was the most-streamed song in the U.S. on Spotify, and globally on Apple Music

America really likes its Morgan Wallen. The country star dominated streaming on both Apple Music and Spotify this year, earning the Number One streamed song in the country on both platforms with “Last Night.” His One Thing at a Time album was the most streamed album on Spotify.

On Apple Music, Wallen’s “Last Night” was the top streamed song globally, beating out Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers,” which came in second, “Kill Bill” by SZA in third, “Rich Flex” by Drake and 21 Savage in fourth, followed by SZA’s “Snooze” in fifth.

Things played out similarly on Spotify’s U.S. chart. Along with earning the Number One slot of most-streamed songs in the U.S. with “Last Night,” Wallen’s “You Proof” came in at Number Eight.

Spotify’s U.S. Top Three looked quite similar to Apple Music’s global Top Three, though “Kill Bill” came in second, and “Flowers” arrived in third. “Ella Baila Sola” by Eslabón Armado and Peso Pluma took fourth, followed by “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” at five for Spotify. Wallen’s fellow country star Zach Bryan earned the seventh most-streamed song with “Something in the Orange.”

It’s a fact: “Last Night” dominated 2023. The track stayed at Number One on the Hot 100 for 16 weeks, beating out Harry Styles’ record of longest run for a non-collaboration. Wallen even tied with “Despacito” for the second-longest reign in Hot 100 history.

On Spotify, Morgan Wallen was the third most-streamed artist overall in the U.S., only coming behind Taylor Swift and Drake. After Wallen were The Weeknd and Bad Bunny to round out the Top Five. Zach Bryan also broke the Top 10, reaching Number Eight on the list.

As for albums, Wallen had two of the Top Five most-streamed LPs in the United States. One Thing at a Time, the LP he dropped in March, landed at Number One, while 2021’s Dangerous: The Double Album reached Number Five after coming in at Number Three last year. Globally, One Thing at a Time charted as the fifth most-streamed in 2023. (See Spotify’s global charts numbers here.)
