Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, Wolf Alice Set for India Debut At Backdoors 2018

Around this time last year, Bengaluru venue The Humming Tree hosted their first ever edition of outdoor concert series Backdoors, featuring artists such as Jose Gonzalez, Patrick Watson and Steven Wilson. With a more than favorable response, Backdoors returns with twice the number of artists, expanding to set up an edition in Mumbai as well.

The second edition of Backdoors, set to take place on February 14th in Mumbai and February 17th in Bengaluru, will bring to stage some of the most hyped and critically-lauded names in international music ”“ American rapper, singer, drummer and producer Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, London rockers Wolf Alice, hip-hop artist Watsky, English drummer Danny Goffey (from erstwhile rockers Supergrass) and one more name that’s yet to be finalized.

Indian artists tapped to perform at Backdoors include New Delhi singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad, Mumbai firepower rapper DIVINE and Bengaluru folk/indie band When Chai Met Toast. The Humming Tree founder Nikhil Barua also mentioned that they are partnering with Amnesty International for the series, to increase awareness of gender-based discrimination. He adds, “The first edition gave us a lot of confidence in doing shows in this format ”“ one-day intimate show with an insane lineup in venues that lend to the atmosphere of being engulfed in the gig.”

The lineup features two Grammy-nominated artists who are well on their way to selling out stadiums and playing major slots at festivals around the globe, which makes it the right time for Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals and Wolf Alice to visit India. Barua adds, “We’re even more excited with this year’s lineup since for us it represents artists who are at the top of their game, and so relevant right now! I wont say trending but the entire lineup is artists who have and are going to blow up in 2018.”
