Over the past three months, a series of gigs bringing potential Best Emerging Artist nominees for the ninth edition of the annual Jack Daniel’s Annual Rock Awards, were held at the Hard Rock Café in Pune, Bengaluru and New Delhi. The category was introduced in the seventh edition of JDARA with hip hop group Bombay Bassment snagging the award in 2012 and Mumbai-based alt punk/dance rock band Blek winning last year. This year, the nominees for the category were picked not just on the basis of their releases, but also on their performances at these gigs.

The series saw top notch performances across the three cities by bands like Mumbai garage/blues rock band Bone Broke, Pune-based prog rock band Pinnochio’s Moment of Clarity, Bengaluru-based post rock act Until We Last, Kochi-based Black Letters, Delhi-based experimental electronica-rock act Sundogproject, Delhi glitch hop duo FuzzCulture and more.

The Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards list of nominees for the Best Emerging Artist includes
