Anuv Jain, BLOT!, Lucid Recess and More Set for Bloomverse Festival in Guwahati

The first edition of the two-day event will be held on April 2nd and 3rd

India usually takes a break from music festivals right after Holi in March, but clearly the pandemic has given rise to a different kind of plan for event organizers and promoters. Bloomverse Festival, a new two-day music gathering, will take place on April 2nd and 3rd in Guwahati.

The lineup brings in big-ticket headliners such as singer-songwriter Anuv Jain, rock act The Yellow Diary, DJ-producer BLOT! aka Gaurav Malaker and electronic artist Lifafa aka Suryakant Sawhney. Organizers Skillbox have brought in new and seasoned artists from the North East to add a bright local element to Bloomverse. That includes the return of electro-rock act Digital Suicide and alt-rock/metal band Lucid Recess, plus Siliguri producer-vocalist duo Dreamhour x Dokodoko, Manipur’s indie rock act Meewakching, Guwahati post-rock/shoegaze act Fellow Swimmers and funk/jazz act Hiraeth, among others.

Set up on a live stage and an electronic stage at Greenwood Resort, Bloomverse also includes techno producer Torrid, ambient/deep house DJ Demiurgic, electronic trio Xobdo and more. Amarjeet Singha, business head of live IPs and tours at SkillBox, says they’ve been working on putting together the festival since October last year. “It started out as a small scale concert idea that went on to become a full-fledged music festival but with a smaller capacity,” he says. When it came to picking the lineup, the organizer says they wanted a lot of local acts with a repertoire of original music and a bit of following, which led to “a mix of genres.”

Single day passes for Bloomverse are currently selling at ₹1,900, while a season pass for both days costs ₹2,950. Entry is only allowed for those above 16 years of age and double vaccinated.

Held in April, Bloomverse might mark the unofficial end of music festival season in India, which has already seen the likes of Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Mahindra Open Drive, Mahindra Blues Festival and GIFLIF Comedy and Music Fest in the last month. Singha adds about the long-term goal with Bloomverse, “The plan is annually for now. We will see how it all goes but the plan as of now is to come back next year in February.”

Bloomverse Festival takes place on April 2nd and 3rd at Greenwood Resort, Guwahati. Get tickets here.
