Aparshakti Khurana and Savi Kahlon Team Up for Folksy Song ‘Zaroor’

The actor-singer and the ‘Apa Fer Milaangey’ Punjabi hitmaker come together for a love ballad

Actor-singer Aparshakti Khurana leads with lightheaded vocals on the new Punjabi romantic song “Zaroor,” with Savi Kahlon taking on composing and lyric duties, and music by Siddharth Amit Bhavsar.

Driven by acoustic guitar melodies and Punjabi folk elements, the artists are teaming up for the first time, although Khurana has often proved his penchant for pop. The star in series such as Jubilee on Amazon Prime Video and Bollywood films including Stree and Luka Chuppi has previously released singles including “Kudiye Ni,” “Tera Naam Sunke” and “Balle Ni Balle” (the last two featuring music by Bhavsar).

Kahlon, for his part, hit it big in 2023 with his heartfelt Punjabi song “Apa Fer Milaangey.” The Auckland-based artist has often captured longing for home and loved ones in his songs and there’s more of that channeled through Khurana’s voice.

Their collaboration “Zaroor” is described in a press release as a “quaint love ballad” driven by healing and self-reflection. The release adds, “The protagonist navigates a labyrinth of emotions, gently unraveling the knots of past attachments. Through introspection, he embraces the bittersweet symphony of letting go, finding solace in the echoes of memories and the promise of newfound beginnings. With each verse, they dance with the ghosts of yesteryears, gracefully bidding farewell to what once was, embracing the journey towards self-discovery and renewal.”

Khurana says in a statement, “Collaborating with Savi on ‘Zaroor’ has been nothing short of magical, it has allowed me to explore myself deeply as an artist. I think that this song’s unique message will strike a chord with listeners globally. Being a part of this project has been an honor, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.”

Savi Kahlon adds, “‘Zaroor’ is a special song for me that speaks right to the heart of listeners. And collaborating with Apar Paaji has been an incredible journey of creative synergy and shared passion. I hope the audience connects with the melody we have created and find the courage to start anew.”

Outside of music, Khurana has several film projects as actor which are in different stages of production, including Stree 2 and Vampires of Vijay Nagar.
