Aquajam Hill Festival Debuts Next Month
Put together with the help of a group of Delhi musicians, another music festival kicks off in Naukuchiatal
Veterans of the Indian rock scene, Parikrama from Delhi has decided to give back to the growing music community in India by supporting V Play, a start-up company that plans to provide a platform to musicians across the world.
While most details are still under wraps, ROLLING STONE India has learnt that V Play, which has four centers across the world in Delhi, Naukuchiatal, Phuket and Mauritius, is putting together a four-day music festival called Aquajam in Naukuchiatal between October 24th and 28th, 2012. The plan is to host two Aquajam festivals every year, at any of the two centers.
With 14 students across their multi-city centers, V Play will kickstart the first edition of their festival by launching three musicians, one from Delhi, Phuket and Mauritius each. About how different this festival will be from Escape, which takes places at the same location, and other music festivals in the hills, Parikrama’s Nitin Malik, one of the mentors at V Play, says, “Aquajam is a launch pad for our students wherein they get an opportunity to share a platform with the experienced lot from the industry. Our students will be backed by professional musicians like Shubha Mudgal and Parikrama during their acts at the Aquajam.”
The organizers are hoping for a turnout of 250 people at Aquajam music festival, which will host over 45 acts. While ticket pricing is still being worked out, watch this space for more details.
