In a span of nine minutes and four tracks, Kolkata rappers Archiesman Kundu and Tamojit Chatterjee aka MC Headshot, along with producer Rohit Dey aka Rawhit bear down with a dizzying amount of bars on their new EP Tenduaz.

Released last month, it builds upon the ongoing collaborative streak between Kundu and Rawhit, who have been working together since 2020. Rawhit says, “We know each other very well. Our work strategy and vibe, etc [matches]. This is my first project with MC Headshot. We pushed each other to complete this top-notch EP with work, power and positivity.” The producer also says that Tenduaz is an outcome of “belief, love, action and positivity.” Kundu adds about bringing in a third collaborator, “Headshot and I, we have known each other since 2018. We were free-styling together at Sunday cyphers.”

While “Flex 100” is all about narrating the stories behind their rise, the title track sees Kundu and Headshot trade their measures of success and how it’s changed them. The closing track “G-Shit” wanders into a club-friendly beat and lyrical content, as the rap becomes more about securing the future in terms of money as well as peace of mind. The music video for “G-Shit,” directed by Jasprit Panesar, sees the duo walk through the backroads of Kolkata with a hypnotic green tint filtered over the night.

Kundu says there are many more tracks with Rawhit in the works. “We have the biggest song for the Kolkata underground hip-hop scene called ‘Kolkatar Chele’ with [local rappers] Cizzy and Ron-e. There’s also an EP coming to represent the sound of Kolkata along with other city rappers. [There are also a] lot of features coming,” he adds.
