Bengaluru multilingual rapper SIRI with producer Sez on Beat and Mumbai's Kaam Bhaari also find their way; public voting closes on November 2nd
The 27th edition of the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards returns with its Best India Act category this November. The nominees selected this year based on releases include pop artists such as Armaan Malik and hip-hop mainstays like DIVINE, Prabh Deep, Kaam Bhaari and SIRI with Sez on the Beat.
While last year’s nominees included slightly more diversity — rock veterans Parikrama, singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad, electronic/pop artist Komorebi, hip-hop star Raja Kumari and rapper Emiway (who won) — the 2020 EMAs ramp up on India’s versatile, can’t-fail rap artists this time around.
With the exception of Malik — who is nominated for his shimmering English song “Control” — the Best Indian Act nominees have Punjabi artist Prabh Deep for his 2020 single “Chitta,” Mumbai rapper DIVINE for his breezy standout hit “Chal Bombay,” Bengaluru hip-hop artist SIRI‘s fun-loving “My Jam,” which is produced by Sez on the Beat, plus the moody rap of Kaam Bhaari on “Mohabbat.”
The Best India Act is one amongst over 40 categories that cover similar region-specific awards as well as categories such as Best Song, Best Artist, Best Collaboration, Best Virtual Live and more. The winners will be decided via a public vote which is now open.
