The singer-songwriter will play gigs in four cities to support his forthcoming new record ‘Bombay Dreams’

Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Taba Chake is all set to hit the road this week to promote his upcoming 10-track album Bombay Dreams, the follow-up to 2016’s debut EP Bond with Nature. After its release on April 25th, Chake’s Bombay Dreams tour – organized by house gig series LVNG (part of artist collective RECK) – will see him play four gigs across Bengaluru, Pune, New Delhi and Mumbai from April 26th to May 4th.

Ask Chake on what people can expect from the new album and he says, “Bombay Dreams is not just a dream anymore. It’s as real as me now. The lyrics are like my body and my vision syncing into one. The album has songs about love, loneliness, unity, and nature.” The record also features the fingerstyle guitarist singing in three languages; Nyishi (a tribal dialect from his native Arunachal Pradesh), Hindi and English.

With the house gig culture booming in the country now, Chake is glad to be a part of it. He recounts his early years playing at pubs in New Delhi saying, “I remember singing the same lyrics in different tunes almost every weekend, and you know what… It was only me who knew [them]! No one cared.” He adds, “What I like about the house gig culture is that people who come for the gig are the people who genuinely want to listen to what the artist has to say.”

Chake states that he is one to always tell a tale and this tour is no different. What is he looking forward to most while on the road? “In every direction you look, you find artists who tell you their stories with music and you make their stories yours, and it becomes you,” he says. Each location that Chake is set to perform at has been handpicked by the tour’s venue partner, hostel chain Zostel.
