A$AP Ferg to Make India Debut at Vh1 Supersonic in Pune
The New York rapper and trap artist from the A$AP Mob will make his India debut at the three-day music festival in Pune
New York’s trap and hip-hop artist A$AP Ferg has been announced as the final headliner for Vh1 Supersonic 2024, taking place between February 16th and 18th at Mahalakshmi Lawns in Pune.
The rapper’s India debut has been announced just about less than two weeks before the festival dates, which also includes Major Lazer Soundsystem, KING, The Midnight, Yotto and Adam Beyer on the lineup, among others.
A$AP Ferg broke out into the scene with his 2013 album Trap Lord and songs like “Work (Remix)” — featuring rappers A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, French Montana and Trinidad James — plus his 2017 song “Plain Jane” from 2017’s Still Striving mixtape. First known for his aggro style of trap, the rapper went on to release albums like Always Strive and Prosper in 2016, followed by the two-part album Floor Seats in 2019 and 2020. The first of those spawned the emotive hit “Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies” with Brent Faiyaz and Salaam Remi.
Outside of his work as a mainstay artist in American hip-hop, Ferg has also appeared as a featured artist on several hits, including fellow A$AP Mob family member A$AP Rocky’s “Ghetto Symphony” and Ariana Grande’s “Hands On Me.”
Ferg also appears on American hip-hop artist G-Eazy’s “Lotta That,” and coincidentally, the latter will also be making his own India debut starting this weekend in Bengaluru, as part of a three-city tour. Clearly, there’s no dearth of hip-hop artists coming down to India in recent years, from 50 Cent to Offset to M.I.A. and more.
