Asian Dub Foundation, Tajdar Junaid, Soulmate to Perform at Beantown Backyard Festival

The latest music festival taking place this year brings together food trucks, specialty brews, yoga sessions and camping at the base of Karnataka’s Nandi Hills. The inaugural edition of the Beantown Backyard Festival (‘Beantown’ translates to ‘Benagluru’ in Kannada) takes place on October 27th and 28th.

In the backdrop of the verdant Canterbury Castles community ”“ about 60 kilometers from Bengaluru ”“ some of India’s most dependable musicians and a few international heavy hitters will make their way to Beantown Backyard Festival. The experience also includes hot air balloons, slack-lining and camping.

The two-day festival ”“ whose music program kicks off at 7 am ”“ features performances by must-see artists from across the country. Mumbai-based world/fusion duo Maati Baani, Shillong blues rock veterans Soulmate, Rajasthani folk artist Kutle Khan Project, Bengaluru rockers such as Thermal and a Quarter and Parvaaz, Chennai rockers Skrat and The F16s and Mumbai-based folk/rock artist Tajdar Junaid are slated to perform. International artists include the return of U.K. electronica group Asian Dub Foundation, Beijing-based Mongolian throat singing-meets-rock artist Tulegur, Austrian producer Dunkelbunt with a live set, Israeli fusion band Malabi Tropical and U.K. queer artist Ms. Mohammed.

Also on the bill are a host of folk/singer-songwriters (Dhruv Visvanath, Abhi Tambe, Mahesh Raghunandan, Jeevan Antony), soft bands such as Easy Wanderlings and Ladies Compartment, electronic producers such as _RHL, Disco Puppet, Pardafash and more. Among the must-see acts at Beantown Backyard Festival are Meghalaya’s reggae band Dewdrops, New Delhi’s dance-rock act MOSKO, folk-poetry duo Namit Das + Anurag Shanker and Mumbai ska/reggae act The Fanculos.

Tickets range from Rs 1,600 per day to Rs 2,560 for a season pass and Rs 8,960 for a two-person accommodation and festival access package. Hourly shuttles to and from Bengaluru to the festival venue start at Rs 500.
