The Australian singer-songwriter is slated to perform in Mumbai in November
Australian musician and Indophile, Aurora Jane is set to return to India this year. The artist recently announced her plans to tour UK in October and India in November. She posted on her Facebook page: “First round of Europe & UK dates for October, and India for November up on www.aurorajane.com on the tours page. Super excited to be globe-trotting with the Picture the Ocean crew!” Picture The Ocean is an alt-pop trio from Canada, with whom Jane is touring UK. While dates for Mumbai (November 7th, Blue Frog) are up on the artist’s official website, the others are yet to be announced.
Jane seems to have made India her second home and has been returning to the country since her first show in 2004 when she performed at the World Music Festival in Ladakh. In 2006 and 2007, she performed at the Roots Festival across Northeast India jamming with Shillong band Soulmate. In 2008, she played at Pubrockfest and went ahead to work on her third album, Deep End, which was recorded in India, Australia and Canada and mixed in Sydney and New York. She later visited the country again to release this album in early 2011. While the album launch gig didn’t get rave reviews, Jane’s brand of funk-infused pop rock won her many fans in the country.
Her upcoming tour is to promote her latest concept album, Bittersweet. Like her previous album, which features Indian artists like Dhruv Ghanekar and Vivek Rajagopolan, Jane’s upcoming album traces her musical and culinary journey with local artists in Cuba, India and the Canadian Rockies. According to Jane’s website, an app for her fourth album Bittersweet will be launched for iPhones and iPads in October.
Aurora Jane will perform on November 7th, Blue Frog, Mumbai.Â
