One of India’s longest-standing metal series Domination: The Deathfest makes its date with New Delhi on August 6th, featuring a day-long pummeling variety of death metal, including an international headliner for the first time in its ninth edition.

Australian tech-death metal band Psycroptic will headline Domination: The Deathfest, as part of their seven-city India tour in August. Domination: The Deathfest ”“ which started off in Mumbai between 2000 and 2003 and returned in 2013 ”“ has traveled to Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and New Delhi, where they’re now hosting their second edition. Fest founder Nitin Rajan says, “Ever since the fest’s return in 2013, there has been a conscious effort to take it to newer cities, so it was Hyderabad in 2015 and Delhi in 2016. We haven’t ruled out the city of it’s birth ”“ Bombay yet. The local underground gigs scene is fairly active so we may do an edition possibly next year. But for now, it can’t get bigger than this power-packed ninth edition lineup.”

The lineup also includes Psycroptic’s India tour support acts such as New Delhi-based prog/death metallers Fragarak, Hyderabad band Godless, Mumbai death/doom metallers Primitiv (which includes Rajan on vocals and co-organizer/bassist Riju Dasgupta) and extreme metallers High Frequency, also from New Delhi.

Put together by New Delhi’s Kunal Batra, he says the planning started right after last year’s editions took place in Mumbai and New Delhi. “The decision of having this year’s DDF only in Delhi was the result of a combination of things. Delhi rarely gets its cut of any big international metal band these days. And judging by the crowd’s appreciation from last time plus the support given by antiSOCIAL made it a no-brainer to do another DDF in Delhi.”

Psycroptic’s drummer Dave Haley says about their India debut, “India is a country I never thought I’d ever have the privilege of being able to visit, let alone perform music in. We are all very excited to get over and start the tour and hang out with our Indian brothers and sisters. I’m sure it’s going to be an experience we will remember! We’re heard a lot about how beautiful the country and nice its people are. We’re excited to see how the local Indian metal scene is, as we have heard a lot of cool things about it.”
