Metalheads of the East, rejoice! This year’s Downhaus II festival in Kolkata will see the New South Wales metallers Parkway Drive headline an impressive bill that also includes Scribe, Bhayanak Maut and Zygnema from Mumbai as well as local heroes Chronic Xorn.

Parkway Drive are scheduled to tour South-East Asia express-style in December, taking in seven countries in ten days. After back-to-back gigs in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, they hit Kolkata’s Nazrul Manch Auditorium on Dec 17.

According to Metalbase India’s Abhishek Banerjee, one of the organisers of the show, “Since they were touring Asia, we contacted the band’s manager. Things went well and they agreed to do the show”.

The band was formed in 2002 in Byron Bay, Australia and have released three albums, Killing with a Smile (2005), Horizons (2007) and Deep Blue (2010).

Check out the video for ‘Karma’ from Deep Blue below. For about thirty seconds in the middle (2:15 – 2:45), the video goes from surfer dude cool to hilarious naffness as the band try to play their instruments in the water!

Downhaus II will happen at Kolkata’s Nazrul Manch on December 17. Passes for the event cost INR 99.
