The Hindi track from the singer-composer comes with an elegant, heart-to-heart intimate music video
After traversing rock and Indian classical earlier this year, singer-songwriter and composer Avanti Patel takes on airy jazz-pop vibes on her latest song “Khoee.” The Hindi song – which comes with a music video produced by Shubhi Rao – follows singles like “Sandesa.”
The song is produced by guitarist-composer Abhay Nayampally [who also worked on “Sandesa”] with sublime clarinet added by I.D. Rao and backing vocals by fellow singer-songwriter Poorvi Koutish. Patel, for her part, uses “Khoee” to make her catalog even more diverse, lending itself to a cinematic but intimate jazz palette as she sings about the feeling of being lost.
Patel says in a statement about the song, “‘Khoee’ was written a few years ago, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to release it back then. It was my way of making sense of the constant quest and search we all go through while finding ourselves. So many times life decides to throw curveballs at us and somehow, there’s an inner voice that tells us to keep at it – to not give up. In these ups and downs of life I believe, we truly find ourselves.”
In the video, Patel is seen as part of a shoot, in different attires and looks, but she’s also peeling back the layers in a bid to offer honesty beyond the gaze of the cameras and crews.
