Awolnation Drops Out Of Live From The Console Goa

The headlining electro rock act cites exhaustion as reason for not making it to the two-day festival

American electro-rock act AWOLNATION are no longer headlining day one of Live From The Console’s Goa edition. The two-day fest will take place on December 29th and 30th will close with an hour-long set by American indie duo Cults on day one.

With all the gigs that took place this quarter, AWOLNATION joins black/death metal band Behemoth in being one of the few acts that were unable to make it down to the country, although for different reasons. Jayesh Veralkar, label head, Day 1 that is organizing the festival with event management agency Oranjuice Entertainment says, “He [Aaron Bruno, frontman of AWOLNATION] was unwell and his management also told us he was suffering from exhaustion from touring.” Behemoth canceled what would have been their first ever show in India after Indian Music Conference was pushed back to 2013 due to sponsorship issues.

An official statement from AWOLNATION posted on the event’s Facebook page read: “It is with deep regret that we have had to cancel our performance at Live From the Console in Goa. We apologize to everyone who was looking forward to seeing us perform, and hopefully we will one day have the opportunity once again to play for AWOLNATION fans in India.”

Organizers of Live From The Console Goa also confirmed they will not be finding a replacement artist to fill the headlining slot on December 29th. “At this point, it’s too late to add another headlining act,” says Veralkar.

The festival’s closing day will feature performances by reggae act Julian Marley and the Uprising, as well as sets by American singer-songwriter Joe Purdy and dub acts such as Dubblestandart [Austria] and Dub Mafia [UK].

Live From The Console takes place on December 29th and 30th at Cavelossim beach, South Goa. Event details here.
