Backstreet Boys Set for India Shows in May

The celebrated American pop group will return to India for the first time since 2010

International artists are putting India on their touring map more than ever, with Backstreet Boys being the latest to make their date with the country. Singers Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough will return to India on May 2023. The group performs in Mumbai on May 4th at Jio World Garden in Mumbai and on May 5th in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

America’s beloved pop group from the late Nineties and early 2000s and an inseparable (and to some, unavoidable) part of their childhood and teenage lives in India. Love ’em or hate ’em, Backstreet Boys were massive in India and in markets around the world, something that they’re able to capitalize on even 30 years into their career. The band — minus vocalist and co-founder Richardson, who had left BSB at the time — last visited India in 2010, performing alongside pop-rock artist Richard Marx at concert series Rock ‘N India in New Delhi.

This time around, the shows promoted by BookMyShow and Live Nation are part of the DNA World Tour in Asia in the coming months, which includes stops in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Hong Kong, plus shows in Australia, New Zealand, Iceland and South Africa between March and May 2023. Previously in 2020, the band press pause on the DNA World Tour owing to the pandemic, slowly making good on their promises to perform around the world only from 2022 onwards.

The obvious “Backstreet’s back, alright!” references aside, it’s a chance for full-blown nostalgia for fans in India, even as Backstreet Boys scaled the charts with songs like “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” off their 2019 album DNA (which debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart) and made further waves in the U.S. with A Very Backstreet Christmas in 2022, which was their first ever holiday album.
