It seems that Bad Bunny‘s newly-released album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, was destined to break records.
On Friday, Spotify announced that the 22-track LP is their most-streamed album in a single day in 2023 so far. The superstar previously claimed the title of the most streamed artist on Spotify for three consecutive years in 2020, 2021, and 2022. And in July 2023, Un Verano Sin Ti became the most-streamed album of all time in the platform’s history.
The Puerto Rican megastar dropped the record on Friday the 13th, which includes “Monaco,” “Mr. October,” Cybertruck,” “Teléfono Nuevo,” “Acho PR,” and “Thunder y Lightning.” The LP opens with “Nadie Sabe” and ends with “Un Preview.” The project embraces the latin trap from early in his career, and throughout the album, Bad Bunny grapples with the trappings of fame and examines how far his journey over the last six-plus years.
When speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, the Grammy winner discussed taking time to focus on himself for a while. “That’s what I’ve been trying to do without caring about the obstacles, because it’s … cabron,” he said. “I love the world, but I also hate the world,” he added, “That should be the cover: ‘I love the world but sometimes I hate it.’ ”
Hours after Bad Bunny hosted a massive listening party for Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana in Puerto Rico, he shared the music video for “Monaco,” which features Bad Bunny as an old Hollywood star driving around Monaco, dancing on a yacht with bikini-clad women, and dining with Al Pacino. Towards the end of the video, Pacino sings out the title of Bad Bunny’s album name in English: “You never know what tomorrow brings, you never know what tomorrow takes from you.”
