The track marks the beginning of the Thai rapper and producer's journey as a solo act
Five months after his departure from JYP Entertainment, BamBam revives his artistic persona via his first solo project, riBBon. Characterized by the blend of upbeat hip-hop with trap, the lead single of the same name displays witty wordplay with the capitalized double ‘B’ in its title referring to the acronym of the artist’s stage name.
Co-composed by BamBam along with Peter Chun, Andreas Carlsson, Drew Scott, Ryan Kim and earattack, the record underlines the rapper’s gleeful persona and style with lyrics embodying a strong metaphorical reference to that of a ribbon, subtly hinting towards BamBam’s evolution as a musician– “See a better version of my side/ I’m like a feather now, I feel so light/ Whatever you want, want, I’ll give you everything for sure/ I’m ribbon.”
Resting on a carpet of brightly colored flowers, the music video opens with an aerial view of BamBam while an orange rose rests between his lips. Taking on a pastel color palette, the music video sets BamBam against picturesque backdrops as he performs rhythmic choreographed moves. On several occasions, the rapper hints towards his artistic revival and seems to be hopeful of the beginning of this new chapter with his fans: “Have hope in us, again/ I’m feeling you, so let get in mood/ Every moment in my heart/ I want to share with you.”
“riBBon”, which features in Bambam’s first solo mini-album of the same name, is accompanied by five additional tracks titled, “Intro,” “Air,” “Pandora,” “Looks so Fine,” and “Under the Sky.” BamBam has further been credited as a songwriter on five tracks and as a composer on three tracks, with music video production credits on “riBBon.”
