Krithi – நிலப்பரப்பு (Nilapparappu)
South Indian-origin Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and producer Krithi adapts the rhythms of ghatam as well as Tamil folk percussion on her new EP Nilapparappu, a heavily beat and rhythm-driven experimental electronic record that spans four tracks. Often primal and intense, the EP is a chasmic rave-ready offering from the producer.
Noisegates – “A Moment In Time”
Mumbai visual artist, illustrator and vocalist Vineet Sharma (from erstwhile death metal band Killchain) turns producer with his new project Noisegates. Exploring the tones, beat structures and intensity of underground electronic music, this project dials up on techno influences while keeping it groovy.
morèno – “Ginza (Remix)” (ft. Alf4zi, Alo Wala & RiSK)
Originally featuring rapper Alf4zi and producer morèno, this sample-friendly remix of “Ginza” calls in Chicago-born Alo Wala aka Shivani Ahlowalia to open proceedings on the track, while New Delhi-based seasoned rapper MC RiSK closes things off, packing a rush of a ride within three minutes.
Prime Rage – Desecrated Faith
Bengaluru death metallers Prime Rage launch their gnashing debut EP Desecrated Faith and it might have taken a while given the band’s decade-long existence, but they waste no time. Songs like “Art of Decaying” are relentless, while “Discectomy of a man-made God” dives right into buzzsaw riffage. The lengthier songs on the EP – including the title track and “Incendiary Hallucinosis” are more journeying, visceral ravaging in their intent.
Farhan Rehman – “Disco Segway”
Mumbai-based producer Farhan Rehman ties together funk and jazz-informed guitar melodies, disco vibrance and house rhythms on his new song “Disco Segway.” That kind of concoction makes it sound perfect for dancefloors as well as festival stages. The song is the second release from newly launched label Dynamite Disco Club, where Rehman also serves as A&R rep.
Various Artists – FILTH CARES: Vol. 2
Mumbai-based label Filth Inc. offers up cutting edge electronic music in the second volume of their compilation FILTH CARES. Inviting producers and artists from India and around the globe, the sounds range from electro, ghetto house, ghettotech and booty bass. All proceeds from purchase of the compilation go towards the ongoing project ‘Poshan Potli’ by Annada, which seeks to provide aid to malnourished children in India.
