Bandh Affects Opening Day Of Ongoing PALM Expo

Mumbai’s annual Pro Audio, Music and Lighting expo opened on a comparatively subdued note today as the Bharat bandh called in protest of the petrol price hike affected transport across Mumbai. While most of the performances and clinics scheduled for the day went ahead as planned, a couple of artists were unable to make it to the venue.

Day One saw performances by the Mihir Joshi band, the Global Unity trio featuring Karl Peters, Sanjay Divecha and Gino Banks (who stood in for drummer Adrian D’Souza who couldn’t make it to the venue on account of the bandh) at the Harman Live Performance Arena. Digitech endorsee and clinician Ralf Jung, who was also scheduled to play the main stage, didn’t make an appearance, as rumored visa issues kept him in Germany. It is unclear whether his clinic has been postponed to another date or if it has been cancelled entirely. Smaller sets at exhibitors booths saw performances and workshops by Goddess Gagged’s Siddharth Basrur and Coshish’s Mangesh Gandhi, NerveRek’s Arjun Dhanraj and Demonic Resurrection’s Sahil Makhija.

Day Two, Friday, June 1^st, will see PALM regular Sivamani perform at the Harman Live Arena along with Niladri Kumar, Dhruv Ghanekar, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’Souza and saxophonist Tala Farall. Also on the bill is Francesco Artusato, guitarist with American deathcore band All Shall Perish, who will conduct an Ibanez clinic.
