The London-origin pop band arrive for their debut shows in India on the back of the 10th anniversary of their breakout album ‘Bad Blood’
Chart-topping, Grammy-nominated British pop act Bastille will make their way to India this November, performing at the inaugural edition of SPXCEJXM Festival in Mumbai and Bengaluru, between November 4th and 5th.
The band – best known for songs like “Pompeii,” “Oblivion” and “Overjoyed” from their 2013 breakout debut album Bad Blood – have been announced as headliners at the two-day festival at SPXCEJXM, which will take place simultaneously in two cities in November. Led by founder Dan Smith and comprising drummer Chris Wood, guitarist Will Farquarson and keyboardist Kyle Simmons, Bastille join the likes of Irish indie-folk act Kodaline, American R&B/soul act Moonchild, Bengaluru-based rock band Parvaaz and a total of about 24 artists at SPXCEJXM.
Bastille were formed in 2011 by Smith and they went on to release Bad Blood in 2013, followed by albums like Wild World in 2016, Doom Days in 2019 and Give Me The Future in 2022. Most recently, the band marked 10 years since the release of Bad Blood, with a double album edition called Bad Blood X. Often known for a sound and narrative that places melancholy next to anthem-like songwriting, Bastille have often made their way onto dancefloors for collaborations with EDM artist Marshmello for the 2018 single “Happier” and “Goosebumps” in 2020 with hip-hop producer Kenny Beats.
Earlier in the week, SPXCEJXM – put together by event companies ODDC and Avrik Live – announced Moonchild’s India debut at their festival, with the trio arriving on the back of their 2022 collab-heavy album Starfruit. It features R&B’s formidable names ranging from Lalah Hathaway to Tank and the Bangas and more. So far, with Bastille, Kodaline and Moonchild, three out of a total six international acts have been announced for the two-day, two-city festival.
Tickets for SPXCEJXM are currently selling at their early bird price of ₹3,499 (general admission) and ₹4,499 (VIP) on Bookmyshow.
