Indonesian-Italian artist gives shape to an abstract concept and turns it into a summery song with co-composer Jordan Gomez and co-producers Andrea Roma and Daniele Vantaggio
Pop artist Bearnie bikes through the hills and palm tree-lined streets in the music video for her new song “Palm Deeds.”
Born and raised in Milan with Indonesian and Italian roots, “Palm Deeds” however fits right into a global space of summery pop, with assists from co-composer Jordan Gomez and co-producers Andrea Roma and Daniele Vantaggio. The song marks Bearnie’s fifth release since her debut in 2021 with the song “Done.” The new song “Palm Deeds” stands out for being brighter in its sonic intention compared to Bearnie’s more club-ready breakout tracks like “Crystal Eyes” (2022) with DJ-producer Robin Novaku and “Need Me” from 2023.
She says in a statement about her process, “I want my music to represent the movies and stories that live in my head, the feelings I get from those and how I interpret the world surrounding me.” Born to a father who worked in dance music production as well as heavy metal, Bearnie swears by music to support her in “every phase in life.” She adds, “[It’s] as if my years have a soundtrack of their own. I live for the music I receive and share and that is why I find art to be so healing – the never ending exchange of inspiration and emotions. My goal out of this project is to share my vision in every phase of my life.”
With “Palm Deeds,” Bearnie sings about relationships and wanting to do it all over again, right from the start, as the hook offers. She adds in a statement, “The story behind it was inspired by the idea of a Bonnie and Clyde meets Romeo and Juliet type of relationship, where there is a strong synergy and connection between two, a cosmic kind of chemistry where physical contact is not only unavoidable but necessary. Their force is magnetic and misunderstood, forcing them to live and love in the dark, when the city sleeps and the deeds get done.”
