The ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ contestant teams up with Deep Rajput for rap and lyrics, with music by Tanuj Jaitly
Bebika Dhurve has previously gained fame as an astrologist, actor and dentist and she adds another feat, turning singer and rapper on her fiery takedown “Boti Boti,” featuring artists like Deep Rajput, Tanuj Jaitly and Ranjit Singh aka Desi Rock.
The song and music video sees Dhurve – who was third runner-up on Bigg Boss OTT 2 last year, which was won by YouTuber Elvish Yadav – take an unsparing approach to haters and create an earworm while she’s at it. True to our guess, “Boti Boti” was inspired by her time in the Bigg Boss house, where Dhurve says she was mistreated by a few fellow housemates.
She recounts about her journey on the reality show, “I was man-handled and pushed by a contestant, I was accused falsely for something by a contestant and they ganged up against me and they were torturing me and I was not able to do anything because I was scared of Weekend ka Var and Salman Khan used to bash us, so I used to keep these things inside and next day I use to sulk.” It was during a task handed to her during the show’s segment of Angels & Devils that she began creating the phrase “boti boti kardungi [I’ll cut you into pieces]” which became the hook of her song.
As much as the song has drawn its fair share of ridicule – which Dhurve has responded to herself – she categorizes “Boti Boti” as a fierce song and certainly hopes it sets a trend in the country. “Indian Music needs a lot more savage, fierce and powerful songs from women artists […] We have a few fierce women artists [but] the numbers can definitely go higher,” she says. On the composing front, Dhurve says the music for “Boti Boti” was changed at the last moment. “Deep really loved my voice and he promised to do a lot of work with me because he feels my voice has that versatility,” Dhurve says. All praise for Rajput’s rap part, she hopes to work with both Jaitly and Rajput in the future.
With the music video, Dhurve says they had a “playful” concept which narrates how the female protagonist – portrayed by Dhurve – intuitively catches her partner cheating on her. The actor gets on desert dunes and clubs alike for the video. “Even the BTS was so much fun, because we used to laugh a lot on the sets. We had a blast shooting for this video,” Dhurve adds.
At the moment, Dhurve calls it a “dream come true” to be a dentist, actor and singer and she balances it all even when it gets overwhelming by taking time out with herself. “That personal space is a must. God has been kind to me and I’m truly blessed. I have all the right people in my life. I believe that’s why my life is on the right track,” she says.
Up next, Dhurve says she’s set for her Bollywood debut, with shooting likely to commence for an unnamed project this year. She promises more songs as well and says 2024 is “going to be insane.”
