Jane’s Addiction have posted a four-minute video of behind-the-scenes footage from the sessions for their new LP The Great Escape Artist. The clip shows the group working with TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, who is playing bass on the LP.
In January Jane’s frontman Perry Farrell talked to Rolling Stone about the disc. “It’s a strange mixture of that post-punk Goth darkness that Jane’s had with what’s going on today with groups like Muse and Radiohead,” he said. “As much as I want to appease fans and make old Jane’s fans love me, I just can’t help myself from moving forward.” The disc is due out this August.
Jane’s Addiction fans were hoping that the band’s fourth album would feature Eric Avery, the group’s original bassist who rejoined the band for a tour in 2009. That line-up did attempt to record new songs with Trent Reznor as the producer, but the whole thing fell apart and Avery quit the group after an Australian tour early last year. Original Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan briefly served as his replacement, but that too fizzled out over creative disagreements. Dave Sitek is too busy with TV On The Radio to tour with Jane’s, so it’s unclear who will play bass with the group when they hit the road.
