Bharg and Chaar Diwaari Pack a Wicked Good Surprise in ‘Roshni’ Video
The shape-shifting artists undertake an elusive search in New Delhi areas like Hauz Khas for their new release

When you put together two artists like Bharg and Chaar Diwaari who are unbound by genres, you get a song (and video) like “Roshni.” Part of singer-songwriter and producer Bharg Kale’s upcoming album Nikamma, Chaar Diwaari aka Garv Taneja’s manic energy eventually gets the better of the track, which goes from breezy, swing-informed pop to meltdown metal aided by growls from Harsh Agarwal.
The music video for “Roshni” – which was hinted at with the single artwork itself, showing Bharg and Chaar Diwaari right in the middle of landing blows upon each other – sees the duo walk through New Delhi together, singing about everything that’s got them down, but still vowing to persevere. Directed by Shabad Sarin and co-directed by Chaar Diwaari, the video brings their elusive search to an end, but not with the result they expected.
Bharg says about the song in a statement, “‘Roshni’ is a story of hope in despair. It follows someone who, despite feeling lost and adrift, is determined to find a glimmer of light to guide them forward. It’s a tale of resilience and the unwavering search for that inner spark.” While there’s still an unmistakable sense of frenzy that Chaar Diwaari brings forward from his previous collaborations like “Violence” featuring Mumbai rapper Gravity, “Roshni” does mark a new turn.
With the song released on November 2nd, it follows Bharg’s title track and lead single “Nikamma,” which also adds plenty of pop-punk, emo and rock energy in a pacey song about frustrations as a young person in India. Lit up by additional guitar work by Moses Koul (from rock act Kraken and actor in Netflix series Cla$$), the description for “Nikamma” terms it as a “pop/indie rock anthem for Indian youth.” Bharg adds, “Culturally, we’re familiar with being called useless at some point in our lives, some more seriously than others. The song is an ode to that phenomenon and defying it – eyes on the prize, you can achieve everything you want to.”
