Bhayanak Maut Ram It Down With New Song ‘Pindakaas’

The Mumbai metallers – with new vocalist Aman Virdi – return after nearly two years

After about a year in wait, Bhayanak Maut (BM) have released their latest single “Pindakaas,” featuring new vocalist Aman Virdi.

In late 2017, the Mumbai metallers promised they would continue despite the simultaneous exit of both vocalists Vinay Venkatesh and Sunneith Revankar. Drummer Rahul Hariharan told Rolling Stone India in December 2017, “The four of us feel stronger than ever that we’ve invested a lot of time – blood, sweat and tears, everything in this band – not to give it up.”

The band announced Virdi – frontman for Pune experimental metallers Noiseware – as their new vocalist last month, while visual artist/illustrator Reuben Bhattacharya aka Visual Amnesia revealed the artwork for “Pindakaas,” all part of an upcoming EP that took shape in Amsterdam in 2015. The song – which takes its name from the Dutch word for peanut butter – brings together metallic intent, synth portions as well as Virdi taking on vocals and lyrics written by guitarists R. Venkatraman and Aditya Gopinathan. It’s very much a familiar brutal sound coming back to the front; groovy riffs and rumbling basslines meet Virdi’s quick-paced growls about all things gory, freaky and funny.

Produced by the band, “Pindakaas” — their first release since the 2014 album Manwas mixed and mastered by guitarist-producer Keshav Dhar (from prog band Skyharbor) and signals a resounding return to form for BM, who are now set to get back on stage sometime this month.
