Big Bang’s Taeyang Announces Collaboration With BTS’ Jimin
Titled “Vibe,” the track is set to drop on January 13th
It’s been just a few days since Big Bang member Taeyang announced his move to The Black Label and confirmed he’s working on new music, and it seems fans won’t have to wait long to see what he’s got brewing.
Earlier today, the vocalist dropped a teaser poster with BTS member Jimin, confirming they will be collaborating on a song titled “Vibe.” Taeyang first began hinting at a comeback yesterday by wiping his social media accounts and dropping a brand new solo concept image of himself with sleek blonde hair and a fiery backdrop– an image which matches today’s announcement concept photo with Jimin.
Fans already had an inkling that Taeyang would be working with Jimin, thanks to now-deleted photographs the iconic Big Bang vocalist had shared on Instagram–the black and white images featured Taeyang at his recording studio with a mystery artist who fans had deduced was indeed Jimin. Taeyang captioned the post with a simple ‘#2023’ and only tagged his new agency, The Black Label.
Rumors of the two artists collaborating had also made rounds in 2022, with Taeyang’s former label YG Entertainment being forced to respond, stating that they were “checking if it’s true.” While no official confirmations were made at the time, several Korean news outlets had reported that the BTS member will be featured on Taeyang’s upcoming album.
This will be Jimin’s second solo collaboration project outside of BTS’ activities. The first one was the 2022 track “With You” with singer Ha Sungwoon, an original soundtrack number for the Korean drama Our Blues.
On December 27th, Taeyang and Big Bang bandmate Daesung announced they would be moving on from YG Entertainment, following member T.O.P who had made his exit in February. Leader of the group G-Dragon remains the only member currently still under YGE.
