Accompanied by a music video, the young rapper's latest single comes two months after his single 'Bourgeois' featuring Zior Park
South Korean rapper BIG Naughty explores the realms of his artistry alongside Korean-American vocalist eaJ in their latest collaborative single, “STAB.”
Co-written and composed by BIG Naughty and eaJ alongside South Korean producer, Dress, “STAB” is driven by a pulsating pop rhythm that keeps listeners engrossed. The song opens on a melancholic note with soft piano keys filling the background. The wistful composition is soon overtaken by prominent synth beats, matching BIG Naughty’s fiery flow. eaJ makes an indelible appearance, balancing the track with his soulful vocal performance. The blend between BIG Naughty and eaJ’s vocal capabilities creates a euphonious contrast, instantly becoming the track’s greatest selling point.
On the lyrical front, “STAB” is a spout of frustration that usually brews after the demise of the relationship. In the track, BIG Naughty and eaJ intently explore the dilemma between wanting to move on and returning to the comfort of a past lover, knowing there’s nothing much they can offer– A puzzling feeling made evident right before the chorus sets in: “Love is all all all all a useless game/It means nothing if it ain’t you/ Middle fingers to the haters / Imma get you tonight/ I want you to stab/ Right in my leg/ Don’t let me go back/ Again to you.”
The song is set to a video that explores similar emotions through a slightly different lens. In the music video, the 18-year old rapper plays the role of a dispirited student caged between the four walls of his high school. Stuck in the endless loop of rigorous coursework, he often finds himself disassociating from reality. As the day dawns upon him, the tired and drained high school student enters his home, finding his mother fast asleep at the dining table. An epiphany takes over him here, pushing him to leave home to taste the sweet flavor of freedom.
Earlier this year, BIG Naughty released his seven-track EP titled, Bucket List which featured collaborations with DPR Cream, GSoul, GRAY, Wonstein and several other artists.
Singer-songwriter and DAY6’s Jae (eaJ) recently performed his first-ever solo set at 88Rising’s Head In The Clouds festival where he performed several of his solo works including two unreleased tracks.
