Billie Joe Armstrong was not here for one fan’s behavior at a recent Green Day show. In videos posted by fans on Monday, the rock band frontman was captured yelling at a fan in the audience at Germany’s Hurricane Festival.
The video shows Green Day leading a yell-and-repeat before taking off his guitar and stepping away from the microphone to yell at and point at a person in the crowd. According to a fan account that shared a video of the incident, Armstrong was reacting to a “person who kept shooting water on his face with a water gun.”
While the audio of what Armstrong said was not clear, he appeared to be saying, “Do you understand me?” while pointing at the fan angrily. After the incident, Armstrong put on his guitar and continued to interact with the crowd through the mic, “Hands up!”
Reps for the band did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.
Green Day is currently on tour in Europe with shows scheduled in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Luxembourg through the weekend. The band will return stateside on July 20 for the Minnesota Yacht Club festival on July 20 before a South American run in the fall. The band will conclude their extensive run in late September with shows at Ohana Fest on Sept. 28 and a one-off concert at Yaamava Theatre in SoCal on Sept. 30.
Armstrong has been using “American Idiot” as a protest for the Trump administration, including at Coachella, which the band headlined. Most recently, he posted an Instagram video filmed from one of the Los Angeles protests, captioned with a flipping-the-bird emoji and an ice cube. It’s soundtracked to Green Day’s “Fuck Off.”
