Bismil’s ‘Tere Naino Se’ Captures His Inimitable Storytelling
Often known for Bismil Ke Mehfil concerts, the song is dubbed as his first Sufi release
Singer Bismil‘s new song “Tere Naino Se” sees the qawwali artist channel the energy and charm of his live performances into a studio release.
Released via the label Be Together Music via their series Be Together Studio – Season 1, Bismil proves why he’s among the most followed newer generation of singers with his first Sufi song, composed by Arjit Srivastava with lyrics by Arjun Sarkar. True to the atmosphere for his mehfils and concerts, the music video and performance style reflect all of Bismil’s power as a performer. There’s dazzling light work, a full band accompanying him and lots of energetic body language that perhaps wants to transport listeners straight to a concert.
Bismil says in a statement, “It’s indeed not easy to recreate the feelings of a live performance in a recorded session, but the fact that Arjit’s melody and Sarkar’s lyrics already had me hooked, my job was to not hold back and deliver the best I could. Now it’s all up to music listeners around the globe to give their true feedback.”
The release of “Tere Naino Se” marks the fifth song off Be Together Studio – Season 1. Previous releases include artist Sagar Bhatia’s “Ishq Ch Kamli,” vocalist Shaheen Salmani’s “Laggiyan,” singer Salman Ali’s “Rog” and Yashraj Kapil’s “Naina.” All songs from the series pair together the composer-lyricist duo of Arjit Srivastava and Arjun Sarkar.
Be Together Music founder Mayur Agarwal said in a statement about their latest release, “Of course, this is what we wanted to do. Ever since Bismil came on board, we were utterly confident of presenting him in the best way possible, and something the world hasn’t seen, till now. BISMIL is the immaculate fit for the vision of Be Together Music and we’re extremely excited to present to all of you, Bismil’s first Sufi original song in Be Together Studio – Season 1.”
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone India, Bismil spoke about the wider appeal of Sufi music just as he was being featured on a Times Square billboard as well as touring North America in 2023. “Sufi as a genre of music has the power to bring people together and naturally, audiences of all age groups relate to the soulful lyrics and enjoy its calming energy… I firmly believe I’m the chosen one to have had the privilege to be the frontrunner in making mehfils more mainstream in India,” he said.
