Black Keys Complete New Album with Danger Mouse

Rock duo hope to release 7th LP by end of 2011

The Black Keys have finished the follow up to Brothers, the Grammy-winning album that launched the Ohio blues rock duo into the mainstream. Spin reports that the as-yet-untitled set was recorded at guitarist Dan Auerbach’s studio in Nashville with Brothers producer Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton.

According to Auerbach, the new tunes are among the fastest they’ve ever played and draw inspiration from the Clash and the Cramps in particular and rockabilly and garage rock in general. “The new album doesn’t sound like Brothers,” he told Spin. “It doesn’t have that open soul feel to it. It’s way more driving and the tempos are really fast.”

No release date is set for the album, but the duo hope to mix and master the record over the summer and get it in shops by the end of the year.
