The show's sixth season premiered on Netflix in June

Black Mirror is coming back. Netflix renewed the fan-favorite dystopian show for Season Seven after its triumphant return in June after four years.
According to Netflix, the Charlie Brooker-created show reached the Top 10 in 92 countries with its latest season. Casting has yet to be confirmed, Variety reports.
Season Six included five episodes, which featured a star-studded lineup of actors. Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, and Annie Murphy starred in Joan Is Awful, while Loch Henry saw Daniel Portman and John Hannah, and Beyond the Sea featured Aaron Paul and Kate Mara. The new iteration premiered in June 2023.
“Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect,” Brooker told Tudum of the season earlier this year.
Black Mirror has had high levels of success thanks to its commentary on dystopian, real-life issues. Joan Is Awful spoke to the advent of artificial intelligence and came just in time for the WGA and SAG-AFTRA negotiations, which included conversations surrounding AI.
“‘Black Mirror’ Season Six Takes Aim at Netflix But Feels Stuck in the Past,” read a Rolling Stone review of the sixth season, adding that the satire “bites the hand that feeds it, and boasts more misses than hits.”
The previous season featured Miley Cyrus and only three episodes and premiered on Netflix in 2019. The Black Mirror franchise also included an “interactive film” in 2018 and a special in 2014 before it moved to Netflix, starting from Channel 4 in Season 3.
Creator Brooker is Black Mirror‘s showrunner. Brooker also executive produces the show with Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhoades.
