Bomb Thursdays Kicks Off Debut Metal Edition

The fortnightly gig series will host Gutslit, Asylum and more

Published by

Ever since it kicked off in March last year, the fortnightly gig series Bomb Thursdays has hosted bands from around the country at the suburban Mumbai venue Kino 108. While the audience last witnessed a moshpit when Mumbai punk band The Lightyears Explode performed, organizers ennui.Bomb have tied up Ahmedabad gig organizers Metalabad for their debut metal edition this evening. The lineup includes four Mumbai bands ”“ slam grind band Gutslit, groove metallers Asylum, melodic death metal band Trinergic, post-hardcore band Last Ride Home ”“ and Pune metal band Consecration.

Ennui.Bomb’s Rishu Singh, who has previously promoted “un-metal,” music as he calls it, says he is now open to organizing shows of any genre. Singh met Metalabad’s Dushyant Dubey, a gig organizer from Ahmedabad last month. Dubey approached Singh to launch groove metal band Asylum’s debut EP, Inmate and the launch of Trinergic’s music video for their single, “Rise of Xyrith.” Says Dubey, who set up Metalabad in 2009 and moved to Mumbai for a six-month internship at a management firm last year, “The Ahmedabad scene always looked up to the Mumbai metal scene.”

Both metal bands and their audience have a lot to look forward to in the coming months with Metal Bomb Thursdays. Says Asylum guitarist Anubhav Rattan, “We formed in 2010 but we had a few lineup changes. We hardly played in 2012 because our guitarists kept changing.” Asylum will play their five-track EP in its entirety.

Metal Bomb Thursdays ft Gutslit, Trinergic, Asylum, Consecration and Last Ride Home takes place on January 16th, 8 pm onwards at Kino 108, Mumbai. Entry: Rs 100.
