The two-day conference in Mumbai will host 70 speakers including international and Indian music industry veterans
Music business gets a new meeting ground in the first edition of a new two-day event in Mumbai on June 12th and 13th, called Music Inc. Hosted by music business media community Loudest.in and news publication Exchange4Media, the focus of the conference is bringing together brands, music makers, technology and marketers.
Among the noteworthy speakers at Music Inc. are music publishing rights organization PRS’s former chairman Ellis Rich, event producers Wizcraft Entertainment’s Sabbas Joseph, lawyer Priyanka Khimani from Anand & Anand & Khimani (who was the first Indian to speak at Grammy Week this year), record label T-Series’ chairman Bhushan Kumar and more. Musicians and composers expected to speak include rapper Badshah, Clinton Cerejo, Salim Merchant and Shibani Kashyap.
Amidst talks of driving music sales, the future of Bollywood and independent music and publishing rights, day one’s penultimate panel discussion revolves around music’s role in corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship, moderated by Rolling Stone India’s executive editor Nirmika Singh at 5:20 pm on June 12th. Speakers include Kashyap, artist manager Anurag Rao, YouTube vlogger Prajakta Koli, music composer Shamir Tandon, media house Qyuki Digital Media’s co-founder Samir Bangara and Zila Khan, the curator for Arre Siren, the festival for women artists which took place in March.
On behalf of Rolling Stone India, who are magazine partners for Music Inc., Singh said in a statement, “There has been never a bigger need for the consolidation of the various pillars of the indie music industry than today, and we are happy to partner with Loudest.in in this endeavor. Music Inc. promises to be a one-stop destination for facilitating dialogue between players involved in any capacity in the music business — artist, managers, critics, event organizers and digital leaders, among others.”
