Britney Spears Releases ‘Work Bitch’ Early After Track Leaks

Manager blames leak on 'one bad apple'

Britney Spears released her new single, “Work Bitch,” a day early after the track leaked online Sunday. The song was scheduled to hit the radio at 6 p.m. on September 16th EST, and Spears even unveiled a countdown website to promote the release. But after a version of the track appeared Sunday morning, Spears pushed the official debut up to Sunday afternoon.

“Woke up today and saw that a low quality version of Work Bitch had leaked,” Spears tweeted on Sunday afternoon, punctuating the note with a frowny face. Spears’ manager Adam Leber tweeted that it was “disheartening that one bad apple had to spoil our release for the entire fan community.” He followed up by imploring fans to wait for the genuine article. “Please do your best and try to restrain yourselves from listening for a few hours until the actual mastered version airs on radio.” The track is now up on Vevo and will be available for purchase on iTunes at 12:01 am EST.

The pounding dance track, which features mostly spoken lyrics, serves as a testament to the fine things a strong work ethic can bring about. “You want a hot body, you want a Bugatti, you want a Maserati?” Spears asks. “You better work, bitch.”
