BTS’ ARMY Delivers its Own Twist on the Wordle Craze

As more and more people fall in love with the latest new puzzle game Wordle, BTS’ fandom ARMY has its own take on the phenomenon. Earlier this week, the famous Twitter BTS fan account btschartdata created and launched their own version of the word game via the clone project hannahcode, where all the answers are connected to the superstar band.

Released in October 2021, the original Wordle was created by Josh Wardle and gives players six chances to guess the five-letter ‘word of the day.’ The word is the same for everyone who plays and changes once every 24 hours, opening a brilliant channel for worldwide competition and togetherness. By January 2022, Wordle saw over 10 million players jump into the craze. On January 31st, The New York Times announced it has purchased the game from Wardle, but stated that it “will be free to play for new and existing players, and no changes will be made to its gameplay.”

Inspired by the global movement, artists’ fandoms have begun launching their own versions of Wordle with daily words connected to their favorite celebrities. We saw this earlier with Taylor Swift’s fandom in January and now BTS’ ARMY is the latest major player in the scene.

The BTS version of Wordle follows the same rules as the original game and gives fans six tries to guess a five-letter word connected to the South Korean group. Customizations also include the correct letters turning purple (BTS’ signature shade) instead of Wordle’s green.

The words can range from song titles, to BTS’ names or even other trivia and fun-facts connected to the group. Popular guesses so far have included members Jimin and j-hope’s names, solo tracks, the septet’s mixtape-related work, SoundCloud releases and more.

The members of BTS are currently on their official break and last performed at their ‘Permission to Dance’ concerts in Los Angeles in 2021. The septet are set to return in March 2022 with a show in Seoul.
