The South Korean group will be making their first appearance at the awards show this month

South Korean group BTS will be making an appearance at the 61st Grammy Awards this year and will also present an award. The news initially came to light via a report by Variety, and was later confirmed to Billboard by the band’sBigHit Entertainment.

This is turning out to be the biggest year yet for BTS; in addition to being announced as presenters, the septet’s 2018 album Love Yourself: Tear is nominated at the Grammys for Best Recording Package with album artwork by Seoul-based branding company HuskyFox’s Lee Doohee. It’s a first-time nomination for both BTS and HuskyFox and, as fans stated on social media, a massive step forward for Asian representation. Other albums nominated in the same category include St. Vincent’s Masseduction, Foxhole’s Well Kept Thing, Mitski’s Be the Cowboy and the Chairman’s The Offering.

BTS’ fandom ARMY have been expressing their joy at the news on social media, with the hashtag ‘BTSxGrammys’ trending worldwide almost immediately after the announcement.

The 61st Grammy Awards will take place on February 10th, Sunday at 8pm EST (February 11th, Monday, 6:30 am IST) and will be hosted by multiple Grammy Award-winner Alicia Keys. Artists performing at the show include the likes of Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Janelle Monáe, Miley Cyrus, H.E.R., Shawn Mendes, Kacey Musgraves and Post Malone with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
