The exclusive agreements with BTS members will continue from 2025 onwards
BTS will Re-Up their contract with HYBE and BIGHIT Music. Each BTS member — RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook — will sign exclusive agreements with the company following a board resolution with BIGHIT Music, where they will continue to work on future releases from 2025 onwards.
“With the renewal of their contracts, we are looking forward to supporting BTS’ group activities expected in 2025,” HYBE said in a statement, adding, “HYBE and BIGHIT MUSIC will provide all support necessary to continue to expand and elevate BTS’ presence.”
The company will sign each member sequentially, taking into account their military service. Suga begins his service on Friday. Following Jin and J-Hope, he is the third member to enlist for military service. All seven members of BTS will complete their mandatory service over the next couple of years, with the group’s break for military service expected to last through 2025.
The band made their debut under Big Hit Entertainment, which later became HYBE, in 2013. Under the company’s wing, BTS became a cultural phenomenon, hitting multiple milestones with chart-topping hits and a setting number of record firsts for a South Korean act, including becoming the first K-pop act to reach Number One on the Billboard 200 in 2018 with Love Yourself: Tear and first all-Asian group to grace the cover of Rolling Stone in 2021. Each member was also featured individually with digital covers as part of the June 2021 issue.
Beginning in 2022, the group began rolling out solo releases as well, including V’s Layover, Jung Kook’s recent single “Seven” with Latto, Suga’s solo album D-Day under the name Agust D, and Jimin’s solo album FACE arrived in March while RM dropped his debut solo album Indigo in December 2022. Meanwhile, Jin released the solo single “The Astronaut,” co-written with Coldplay, in October, and J-Hope released his solo album Jack in the Box in July 2022.
