RM will drop the album on May 24
Despite stepping away from performing together to complete their military duties, the boys of BTS are finding ways to keep their fans connected through their music. On Thursday, BTS‘Bighit Music announced that it’ll be releasing BTS leader RM’s 11-track album Right Place, Wrong Person on May 24, marking his second solo album release.
“Right Place, Wrong Person embodies facets of RM as a solo artist, distinct from albums released under BTS,” said BigHit Music in a statement. “[We] would appreciate the attention and support from many for this album that delves into RM’s authentic essence.”
A press release shared that the musician contributed to lyrics on every song on the project and that the LP will explore the “relatable sensation and moments of feeling like a stranger [or] out of place.”
The album follows his December 2022 album Indigo, which featured standouts such as “Wild Flower” with Youjeen, “Still Life” with Anderson .Paak, and “Yun” with Erykah Badu. He also dropped a 7-track mini-album back in 2018.
RM and his BTS bandmates are currently completing their required military service in South Korea and are expected to reunite in 2025. “What I’m thinking right now is, these days, when I’m doing my solo projects, is, this is just like a vacation to get back to where I was, which was BTS and ARMY,” RM said in August 2023.
The new album announcement comes several days after BTS announced an anti-bullying campaign with UNICEF on Monday. “Now, more than ever, we must try to remember who we are and face who we are,” RM said in a video announcing the partnership. “We must try to love ourselves and imagine the future.”
