The Grammy-nominated pop group are all set to release their second all-English track this month
RM [left] and Jung Kook kick off BTS' teasers for "Butter"
With BTS’ comeback day just around the corner, the South Korean septet have officially entered their promotion stage with a series of never-seen-before teasers.
This evening, the group released two videos featuring their leader RM and vocalist Jung Kook. Set against a party-themed backdrop, the teaser videos bring out a strong throwback to Nineties dance club aesthetics. Dressed in all black and flooded with neon lights, we see RM swaying to the rhythm of a percussion ensemble while Jung Kook spreads a heart-shaped piece of butter across toasted bread in his clip– a visual from the single’s official artwork.
The 10-part promotional schedule includes four concept clips, teaser photos, and the official music video teaser. The schedule–which kick-started with a teaser poster on Sunday– took the Internet by a storm, saturating it with unique theories and predictions about the storyline of the forthcoming record.
The poster took a visual-only approach with a vintage-themed collage of balloons, cocktails, party poppers, a film camera, and of course, a toasted piece of bread, tying it back to the single’s dance-pop musical style. Each of the objects in the poster seem to correspond to the individual members of BTS–the confetti ties to RM and the toast to Jung Kook.
“Butter” will be available globally on Friday, May 21st at 1:00 PM KST (10:30 AM IST) and is BTS’ second all-English single after last year’s hit track “Dynamite.”
