BTS V Adds A Touch Of Class To The Holiday Season With ‘Christmas Tree’

Specially curated for the SBS Drama ‘Our Beloved Summer' that stars award-winning actor Choi Woo-shik, Kim Da-mi, Kim Sung-chul and Roh Jeong-Eui

Dispelling holiday blues with his unique vocal color, BTS’ member V makes a heart-warming return to the OST scene with the cozy ballad “Christmas Tree.”

Produced by music director Nam Hye-seung and musician Kim Kyung-hee (who previously blended their artistry on OSTs for critically acclaimed dramas like Crash Landing on You and Guardian), the track was first heard on December 6th, 2021, when the pilot episode aired on SBS TV. It has also been reported that Nam worked on the OST keeping V in mind from the very beginning.

The warm, romantic ballad gracefully blends with V’s deep vocals, intensifying the emotional quotient of the track. It presents itself with a minimalist, stripped-down composition that comprises dulcet guitar melodies, creating a captivating contrast with V’s breathy vocal performance. As the track progresses, the composers introduce an almost-celestial-like piano solo, adding a nuanced layer of sounds to serenade the listeners. The musical shift is marked by a switch in the vocal performance, deliberately sounding more profound, raspy and heartfelt to convey the earnest emotions the lyrics entail. Out and out, “Christmas Tree” is delivered in V’s signature style that distinguishes him as a celebrated, seasoned vocalist.

While the earworming composition will sit in the deepest corners of your consciousness, the lyrics will carve a space in your heart, providing you with some much-needed warmth during this season. Singing about a simple yet grand love affair,” Christmas Tree” looks at the world with a festive lens. From starry skies resembling a Christmas tree to declaring the simple joys romance carries, the track is a love poem that will ignite the candle of romance inside you which may have dimmed out; “Tell you/ A Million little reasons/ I’m falling for your eyes/ I just want to be where you are.”

“Christmas Tree” marks V’s third OST project. His journey in the OST space began with “It’s Definitely You” alongside BTS’ Jin for the period drama Hwarang (incidentally his debut drama as an actor). V returned with his sophomore OST in 2020 titled “Sweet Night.” The indie-pop track quickly became an audience favorite, forging itself as the sonic identity for Park Seo-joon’s hit drama Itaewon Class.
