BTS’ V Teases New Solo Music With ‘Type 1’ Poster
The cryptic announcement doesn’t reveal whether the release, out July 9, will be an individual song, EP, or full-length album
V of BTS is gearing up to share new solo music — but he’s keeping details surrounding the release close to his chest. On July 9, the musician will unveil Type 1, or “Type 1,” depending on what the project actually is. The announcement arrives in the form of a black-and-white poster shared on social media, which features V leaning against a wall. It’s unclear whether he will be sharing an individual single, an EP, or a full-length album.
There aren’t many clues in the somewhat cryptic announcement, but it does include what appear to be lyrics sprawled across the top of the poster in white cursive. “I still wonder wonder beautiful story/Still wonder wonder best part/I still wonder wonder next story/I want to make you mind,” the text reads. Beneath it, V’s real name Kim Taehyung is typed out across the center of the poster.
Type 1 will be available for pre-order beginning June 27 at 11 a.m. KST.
The project will mark V’s first solo release since sharing the one-off single “FRI(END)S” in March. Last year, the musician released his debut solo album Layover featuring “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” and more.
Speaking with Rolling Stone ahead of Layover‘s release, V explained: “Since it’s my first solo album, I also think I was a bit shy, which is why the process took longer than expected. But because there will be more opportunities in the future to show the songs I’ve written, I thought it would be better to first introduce myself to the world as a solo artist. So the album reflects a variety of different musical styles that shows who I am. I’m still continuing to write songs now.”
Looking forward to the future, the singer added: “The music that I’m working on now is stylistically different from this album.”
