BUDX Returns for a Massive Second Edition with Lineup Feat. Divine, Foreign Beggars, Spacejams and more

India’s premiere electronic music lab will also feature extensive Boiler Room sessions

Mar 16, 2019

The first edition of BUDX, held at Delhi’s warehouse-turned-gig venue Dhanmill Compound in December 2017, hinted towards the possibility of a mini revolution brewing in India’s underground (and not-so-underground) music scene. Now a little over a year later, a music uprising is indeed in the offing. Keeping with the sweeping strides in sub-cutural sounds and nightlife, the second edition of BUDX seeks to consolidate a wider creative community comprising artists, curators, platforms and experiences.

To be held over two days, March 23rd-24th in Mumbai, the electronic music lab will feature performances, showcases, masterclasses, workshops and real-time collaborations.

The artist lineup for this second edition goes a notch wider in terms of genres. While the gathering will serve as a melting pot for a variety of styles, there will be a focus on techno, bass and hip-hop. Some of the acts to look forward to are the English hip-hop act Foreign Beggars, homegrown rapper Divine, and American techno DJ/producer  Detroit in Effect aka D.I.E, which is DJ Maaco’s (Tameko J. Williams) solo act.

Other Indian acts include MadStarBase, the Delhi hip-hop/bass duo act comprising DJs Ase and Neal, hip-hop act Seedhe Maut, producer Sez, among others.

Like in its debut edition, one of BUDX’s biggest pulls will be the special Boiler Room sessions. The roster includes DJ Pierre, Mathew Dear, Asymetrik and More Elian and the marathon set will be broadcast on www.boilerroom.tv on March 23rd, from 6pm to 10pm.

Budweiser’s global commitment to dance music in the recent years has led to the beer brand’s increased involvement in the Indian music circuit. BUDX is one of the many music projects that Budweiser has flagged off in the recent past under its youth culture platform Budweiser Experiences. Apart from bringing Boiler Room to India, the brand has put together two editions of the mega dance event Sensation, hosted the ”˜What’s Brewing’ club gig series and partnered with the debut edition of Electric Daisy Carnival, apart from initiating digital campaigns involving pop culture icons.

Commenting on the IP, BUDX, Kartikeya Sharma, Vice President Marketing – South ”“ Asia, AB InBev says, “India’s music scene is evidently evolving, with an explosion of young talented producers across diverse subcultures. We were witness to this in our first edition of BUDX and are now really thrilled to take this program to the next level through the refreshed format.”

He adds, “At Budweiser, we believe in energizing young and emerging talents to break free from the ordinary life and seize the extraordinary opportunity to “Be A King” and BUDX is reflective of the same principle. We are positive that BUDX will grow to be the ultimate music lab for artists to share knowledge/resources and collaborate on projects.”
