Colombia and India unite! On Thursday, Camilo released his collaboration with Bollywood star Diljit Dosanjh for a cross-cultural crossover titled “Palpita.”

Dosanjh opens the song in Punjabi before Camilo comes in with his verse and its Spanish chorus. Camilo explains that he’s always had a “fascination for Indian culture” and that when he visited India he “fell in love with it.”

“I noticed what’s happening with Punjabi music and how artists like Diljit, are crossing over and sharing their music, culture, and sound worldwide,” Camilo said in a press release. “I’ve admired Diljit for a long time, long before this collaboration came to me, so it was an incredible surprise to see it all come to life.”

“Working with him in the studio was a valuable learning experience because I had the chance to truly see and feel his huge heart, the richness of his melodies, his kindness,” Camilo continued. “This song makes me very proud, not just because we did it but what it means in my career and what we are building between his country and mine.”

For his part, Dosanjh called working with Camilo a “truly enriching experience” and an “absolute joy.”

“Music has this extraordinary ability to bridge cultures and create an unbreakable bond among people, and this collaboration exemplifies that beautifully,” he said in the release. “I hope ‘Palpita’ resonates deeply with listeners and brings a sense of unity and joy to everyone who listens.”

This isn’t the first time Latin artists have worked with desi performers. Back in 2019, Major Lazer and J Balvin worked with Badsha on a remix of “Qué Calor.” Balvin and Tainy later tapped Badshah for the cross-cultural “Voodoo” in 2022.

“Palpita” marks Camilo’s first release since dropping a deluxe version of his LP, De Adentro Pa Afuera.
