Who Is The World’s Most Versatile Singer?

Curating a list of 75 recognizable singers, Concert Hotels has attempted to quantify the vocal capacity of the most versatile vocal ranges in music

Published by

ConcertHotels.com have created an interactive chart that studies the vocal ranges of the world’s greatest singers, encompassing everything from Mariah Carey’s “ear-piercing whistle” to Barry White’s “deep bassy growl.”

The staff at website chose artists from Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers Of All Time, and included male and female artists from the list of this year’s Billboard Music Awards’ nominees. Using data from The Range Place, they gathered information on each artist’s vocal capabilities.  Based on the findings, Axl Rose surpasses a Top 5 that includes Prince, Steven Tyler and James Brown.  Interestingly, David Bowie outranks Sir Paul McCartney, Thom Yorke, Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley and John Lennon.

The chart can be organized according to vocal range, highest notes and lowest notes.
