CL Keeps it Fierce in Her Latest Comeback ‘Spicy’

The South Korean rapper releases the first single off her forthcoming album ‘Alpha’

Aug 24, 2021

Paying homage to her Korean heritage, K-pop’s celebrated soloist CL makes her highly anticipated return with “Spicy.”

Written by Bonique, sokodomo and CL, the song redefines the rapper’s artistic expression for all things trap and power through a heavy arsenal of futuristic beats and sounds. The anthemic single carefully seats CL in a position of power as she celebrates her individuality and culture.

With bold visuals and crisp choreography, the music video opens with a CGI statue reciting “Excuse me, do you have that sauce that is spicy? That is made in Korean?” hinting CL’s arrival. As the song proceeds, CL compares her personality to the zest of spicy sauce as she raps, “She got the sauce, and it’s spicy/ You lookin’ at the most fly Asians.”

The rapper, who had last released the single “Wish You Were Here” this February, is all set to drop the follow-up single from her album Alpha this September. This also marks CL’s first-ever physical album release, which hits stores in October.
