The popular Pakistani television series which inspired spectacular collaborations and rich sound melds is set to launch in India. For the Indian series Coke has tied up with MTV, in what will be called Coke Studio @ MTV. The first episode is expected to air in the month of June. The show, which is co-produced and conceptualised by Rohail Hyatt in Pakistan, will be mentored by Leslie Lewis in India. Coke Studio has enjoyed immense success in Pakistan and is already into its third season. Famous for merging traditional and contemporary music – from Punjabi folk to rock and Sufi to classical -with some of Pakistan’s most talented musicians, the show should be instrumental in adding a new dimension to the Indian music scene.
