It’s a night of mind-bending, evocative prog in store at newly launched gig series Segue, which hosts Mumbai bands Coshish and Paradigm Shift at Antisocial on Jan. 16, 2025, alongside singer-songwriter K.C. Loy’s Indie Republic playing support.

Segue is Mumbai-based artist manager (and former Rolling Stone India staffer) Ashwin Sharma’s initiative, started with an eye on independent music. Sharma says he’s getting back to organizing gigs on a DIY scale in Indian independent music after nearly six years. Although a manager for both Coshish and Paradigm Shift, Segue is more about kicking off a gig series that he hopes will “revive the spirit of creativity and community.”

The first installment of Segue is titled “Regress.” Sharma adds about the programming, “[These are] artists I’ve personally admired since their inception. And, as a nod to their current ‘regressive’ rock endeavors, we’re embracing the pun! This gig is a testament to the enduring power of India’s indie scene, where genres are pushed, boundaries are broken, and inspiration flows freely.” Sharma is hosting Segue at Antisocial, with additional help from photographer, web designer and illustrator Sukrit Nagaraj, who has designed the poster for Segue: Regress.

Coshish will perform a “full version” of one of their latest songs at the gig. “We really got ahead of ourselves while composing it and it’s been a challenge to learn and play the entire 10-minute track. We’ve had a good response when we showcased the song at a couple of previous shows but we want our fans to be blown away by the full track,” the band says in a joint statement. There will be four more unreleased tracks and material from their 2013 debut album Firdous.

Paradigm Shift add in their statement, “We have been writing the third album for the past year. And we are playing one song from the new album and we are really excited to see how people react to it. We have a lot more announcements to make during the gig and in the coming months.”
