D’Luzion UMPro Records [Two and a half stars]
This Guwahati based outfit is your average alt rock experience; D’Luzion is stuck in some stage of adolescence, somewhere between a Hanson and Goo Goo Dolls but not quite as ingenious. They mostly wallow in soft textures but few tracks ”“ ”˜Burn Down’ and ”˜Mid of Noway’ – allude to post grunge idolatry. This self titled debut is tailored to suit the tastes of a teen growing up in the Nineties, maybe D’luzion were a bunch of teens who never grew/broke out of the Nineties spell. This band would fall into the category of artists like Daughtry today, who aren’t driving the scene anywhere but playing to some stubborn (old) tastes.
These boys (literally) wear their broken hearts on their sleeve and the loving gets lyrically cloying at times. With the intro/hook to the guitar ballad ”˜Winds of Yesterday’ one fears they will break into the Eagles’ ”˜Love Will Keep Us Alive,’ but fortunately the vocals track a different melody. Of the nine songs, an instrumental version of ”˜Words to You’ and ”˜Mid of Noway’ featuring Michael M Sailo are tossed in at the end of the mix as bonus numbers.
